This week’s Weekly Photo Challenge theme is guest hosted by photographer and architect Gary Ng, of Gnostec Photography. The chosen theme is ‘merge‘. For my take, I decided to show a merge between new and old in a city. Needless to say, it shows the ultramodern One World Trade Centre under construction while the older buildings stand beneath.
I recall saying in last week’s photo challenge “normally… I only do some slight touching up” but the original image (right) looked terrible; since the day was overcast it meant it was difficult to get a nice photo. Not just that, but I wanted to dip my toes into a new photographic software Photomatix Pro (for which I wouldn’t had discovered if it wasn’t for this blog, so thank you!). I am nothing more than an amateur at the program, but the more I play around and read up on it, I guess I will slowly get my head around it.

I love the contrast/merge between old and new architecture – have you checked out some of Toronto’s sights?
Thank you, and no I am yet to venture over there – but it’s on my (very long) list of places to visit.
Fantastic choice for the photo challenge!
Thank you

NIce work – the enhancements makes the shot look better, but still realistic.
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Bill – much appreciated.
Great job on the processing!
Thanks Madelaine, it means a lot, especially as this was only my second or third try on the program!
